Primary Schools’ Cross Country 2014

The event this year was at King’s Somborne Primary School with a new course developed by the school’s headteacher Julie Way. The competition races were the same distance as previous years but with a slightly more challenging terrain.

The Year 8 and 10 Sports Leaders played a very important part in the event as they helped to marshal the course, collect the final results and record the medal winners, as well as encourage and run with some competitors that found the going rather tough.

Some Leaders helped the pupils to warm up prior to their event and focus on their individual performance to inspire the competitors to ‘do their best’.

Over 60 pupils were involved in the competition races and over 30 took part in the fun runs.

The competition runners in 1st and 2nd place all received a gold or silver medal and all the other runners were presented with certificates in their school assemblies.

It was an excellent competition with lots of cheering from the spectators and even the sun was smiling on the runners!
