If you have visited Test Valley School lately you will know our ROSLA building has disappeared. Well, not so much disappeared as hiding under scaffolding and wrapped in plastic making the building itself seem invisible.
On Wednesday 14th March, Mike Castle (Construction Site Manager) gave pupils from the BTEC Construction group a view from the inside. Mike explained the complex process of managing a building site and showed us just what is going on. We went into a classroom with all the work being undertaken to refurbish the building exposed. The building is ‘growing outwards’ and will have significantly improved insulation. The advantages will be lower maintenance and very little, if any, heating requirements in the winter whilst cooler in the summer. When completed it will look like a new building on the outside. Pupils took a keen interest and asked questions about the build which Mike Castle was keen to explain. Our thanks to him for allowing us in, for sharing his vast knowledge of the construction world and the wide range of opportunities open to young people thinking of stepping into this world of work.
