On Wednesday 7th March, sixteen Year 7 pupils represented our school at the annual Test Valley Rotary Club Design Challenge. Pupils worked in teams of four but do not know what the challenge will be until they arrive. This year their task was to design and build a space capsule launch system with the space capsule being represented by a small hollow plastic golf ball. We were competing in the Foundation Category and were the only Year 7 teams there. Initially our teams, being the youngest there, were quite apprehensive but quickly got into the swing of things. Whilst we did not win this year all our teams were able to successfully launch the capsule. It was a fantastic design and engineering day and our pupils were a credit to their school. They all said they would like to take part again next year.
