Duke of Edinburgh Award Workshop

On Saturday 17th March, Year 10 pupils working for their DofE awards came into school throughout the day. They worked in nine teams to complete their DofE portfolio for the expedition assessment.

Each team started by planning their routes, this involved drawing the routes for each day of their expedition and then marking and numbering checkpoints. This was followed by the production of detailed route-cards. At lunchtime teams spend their time using trangias and cooking a range of foods provided so that they can make choices about what to eat during their expedition.

After lunch, teams completed their portfolios by planning their menu, kit list and aim for their expedition. All these documents are sent to the team’s Expedition Assessors who check and feedback prior to meeting the teams at the start of their expeditions. A busy but very productive planning day ready for their weekend expeditions coming up soon.
