On Wednesday 25th April a group from our Year 10 BTEC construction course took part in a trip to East Anton Primary School. At the construction site Lewis Taylor, the construction manager, gave a short talk explaining how they manage the project before very kindly touring our group around the whole site. We were able to see different parts of the build at various stages. Most importantly, we met with all the different trades working on site and asked them questions about their journey and the work they do, including how much they were paid! Lewis was very keen to explain the huge promotion opportunities within this industry and how keen they are to employ young people. The group are interested in a range of different trades which include bricklaying, plumbing, electricians and tree surgery and Lewis was able to show the importance of all of these to this construction site. He was almost starting to offer them jobs by the end of the tour for when they leave school! The group came away feeling uplifted by what they had seen and the opportunities awaiting them in the future.
