In Music lessons Year 7 pupils have been learning about ‘Musical Elements’ and are applying this new vocabulary to developing and improving classroom ‘Stomp’ pieces in small groups. Stomp are a world-renowned musical group who make musical performances using everyday objects and incorporating drama. The class watched a clip of Stomp’s ‘Kitchen’ performance in which they create an exciting and energetic percussion piece using kitchen equipment. The pupils were then set the challenge of creating their own pieces within a classroom setting using everyday classroom equipment and body percussion, focusing on rhythm, texture, structure and dynamics to create an exciting performance.
