This year’s Hampshire Book Award is well underway in school with Mrs Needs and her team of pupils from Year 8. All are already reading the six shortlisted books to decide which to vote for. All the books are predicted to be a great read although they are all quite different. The main aims of the award are to promote the enjoyment of reading, support the Key Stage 3 English curriculum and to encourage pupils to critically assess the books and make a reasoned case in group discussion. The team are enjoying the group discussions during their fortnightly meetings. They have until the end of June to continue reading and will cast their final votes at the grand final where the winner will be announced.
