At Test Valley School, we believe that  wearing a smart uniform is indicative of a readiness and commitment to learning and that the uniform for our school should reflect the highest of standards and pride in our school.

Outdoor Clothing and Other Information

A dark outdoor coat of plain colour only should be worn. Hoodies, leather, denim jackets and other clothing of this type are considered to be unsuitable and must not be worn.  Hair must be tidy, in an appropriate style for school and must not reflect any extreme of fashion (of any unnatural colour).

In Years 7 & 8 makeup and nail varnish are not allowed.  In Years 9, 10 & 11 makeup must be discrete (if it is noticed, it is too much).  Henna tattoos, artificial nails and nail varnish are not allowed.

A single earring in the lower lobe of each ear, i.e a single pair of small studs or sleepers may be worn. No other piercings are acceptable. One neck chain with a religious symbol may be worn if out of sight (on receipt of a note from parents). No other jewellery should be worn to school, except for one charity band if desired. Watches may be worn at the owner’s risk. 

Please put your child’s name on all uniform and kit.

Footwear

All pupils are expected to wear black leather shoes.  Trainers or pumps are not permitted.

General Equipment

Pupils are expected to have appropriate writing tools including black or blue pens, pencils and erasers, a ruler, a pair of compasses and a protractor.  A suitable resealable drinks bottle, which can be re-filled from the water dispensers by pupils during break and lunchtime is recommended.  From Year 7 onwards pupils will need a scientific calculator.

We ask parents to have belongings clearly marked with pupil's name.

Mobile Phones

Mobile phones are not to be used once pupils enter the school site at the start of the day until they leave at the end of the day.  If pupils do need to bring a phone to school, it must remain out of sight at all times.  The school cannot take responsibility for any loss or damage to personal items such as mobile phones.
