Hope – Our Assistance Dog

Introducing Hope, our Assistance Dog

Hope is joining the school in January 2021 as our Assistance Dog. She will be supporting pupils who are experiencing anxiety and will also be visiting some lessons to assist with learning activities. Pupils who have made a consistent or improved effort may get the opportunity to spend time with Hope as a reward activity. She will be out and about at break and lunch time and is set to be a positive addition to our school.

Hope is a one-year old Black Labrador. She is owned by a fantastic charity called Helpful Hounds, which provides therapy and assistance dogs for schools as well as for vulnerable people. She has previously worked in another school as an assistance dog.

Hope is extremely friendly and playful but she also has a mischievous nature. Labradors are known to be very hungry dogs and Hope is no exception. We will ask our pupils not to feed Hope as this might upset her stomach.

Hope has lived with Mr Page’s family since she was 8 weeks old.
