Governors Pen Portraits

Mrs R Chappell

I have lived in Hampshire for over 30 years and am married with two grown up sons. My last job was as a senior civil servant at the Office for National Statistics and I have also worked in higher education and in the pharmaceutical industries. I have experience with governance boards, for example I was a Trustee for the Higher Education Statistics Agency. These days I volunteer at Citizens Advice in Winchester and for the Royal Statistical Society. I also enjoy catching up with friends, reading and walking.

Ms H Lankester

I have spent my working life in education as I believe it is such an important factor in enabling our young people to enjoy life and become responsible citizens.  Although my main experience has been in Further Education, I have taught at all levels, from Nursery to Higher Education.  Latterly my experience in FE was in a management role. I have also worked part-time for a national exam board as a moderator and monitor of quality.  Most of this experience was in Kent and whilst there I was a governor of a primary school for nineteen years, seven of which were as chairman of governors.  Now that I live in Hampshire, the county of my birth, I am active in the conservation of a local nature reserve and enjoy research into local history and genealogy.

Mrs D Martin

I was appointed as a Local Authority Governor March 2013 and in the new constitution became a Co-Opted Governor serving on the Financial and Staff and Students Committee. In February 2016 I was re-appointed as a Local Authority Governor. I worked overseas for approximately 20 years and was involved in Duty Free Shops in Dubai and Asia on the the management, finance and planning. My four children were all born in Hong Kong and I have an interest in Education and the continual challenging changes.

Mr P Brown

I joined TVS as a governor in October 2020, bringing my previous experience as a governor (and chair) at a Winchester primary school and as a tutor for Hampshire Governor Services.  I also hope to bring insight from my 40-year career initially as a town planner and latterly as a business performance manager, in which I applied my interests in environmental matters and public engagement. In my spare time, I have run creative and wellbeing projects for young people such as a youth theatre. I currently support and tutor at the Winnall Rock School in Winchester.

Mrs F Dean

I’m delighted to be an associate member of Test Valley School’s governing body having been working to support the school since February 2020. I lived for some 16 years in Middle Wallop and have a good knowledge of Test Valley’s catchment and the needs of its pupils. Having spent some of my teacher training time at Test Valley School over 20 years ago, I know that it is uniquely placed to offer young people a high-quality learning experience in a lovely setting that is conducive to wellbeing. As the Headteacher of The Westgate School and Rotherly, The Westgate’s Nursery, I bring a knowledge of teaching, learning and school leadership from EYFS through to Year 11 and it is a privilege to be able to share this insight with leaders at Test Valley School.

Mr D Hall

I have lived in Chilbolton for 14 years with my wife, who is the Administrative Officer at one of our feeder primary schools, and my two teenage daughters. Although I have spent most of my career travelling around Europe working in banking and technology, I now run two small businesses from home and am very focused on my local community – particularly helping our local secondary school on its exciting journey to achieve its vision and deliver outstanding outcomes for our young people. I serve on Chilbolton Parish Council and engage widely with other parish councils, Test Valley Borough Council and Hampshire County Council, chair the local business forum and am a Trustee of Andover Musical Theatre Company -where I still love to perform wherever I can!

Mrs H Doyle

I am a parent governor with one child at the school.  I worked in the international charity sector for twenty years, running programmes in education, health, community work and emergency responses to natural disasters. I then moved into the education sector in the UK, working as a university lecturer, and as a consultant advising universities and charities on fundraising and strategic planning. I was a primary school classroom volunteer for a number of years at schools in Andover and am very pleased to be able to contribute to the Test Valley school community as a governor.

Mrs E Gleeson

I began my staff governor role in June 2020 after becoming a DT and Art’s technician back in 2015. I have a daughter in year 11 at the school and my son left Test valley in 2018 and is now an apprentice Thatcher. We moved to the area in 2015 from London and my previous occupation was a Prosthetic dental technician working in a local laboratory. Previous to this I had trained and worked as a Dental technician At Guys and St Thomas’ hospital in London. I am passionate about animals and the countryside. During my spare time I love to read and walk with my two dogs.

Mr C Lindsay

I have a passion for ensuring that children receive the best education they can in order to fulfil their true potential. With over twelve years of experience as a governor in Hampshire, I am pleased to have joined the Governing Board at Test Valley. In my professional life, I am the Head of EMEA Marketing for a technology company, with significant experience in strategy, leadership, people management.

Mrs H Overton

Prior to joining the Board at Test Valley School, I have been a parent Governor at my Children’s Secondary School and at a Primary School in Basingstoke.  I have also had extensive experience as a local Government Advisor to the Community Management Committees to several Joint Funded Community Schools.  I am currently employed by Hampshire County Council as the Curriculum Coordinator for the Hampshire Achieves Apprenticeship training team.
