Dr S Port (Chair of Governors)
I become Chair of Test Valley Governing Board in Sept 2015, prior to this I was appointed as a Parent Governor in Feb 2015. I have one son at the school and another son who attends our local village primary school. I am a civil servant with a number of years’ experience in industry and government and have worked in a wide range of science and technology in addition to line management and safety. I am currently a Parish Councillor; help run a voluntary youth club, the village school swimming pool during the summer months and a Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) club in Salisbury with the aim to prevent drowning. I enjoy music, cycling, squash, swimming and spending time with the family.
Mrs S Hammer
I was co-opted as a Governor in July 2015. I have experience as a Governor in two local Junior Schools, where I was able to support using the HR skills acquired through my career in both the public and private sectors. I have been a member of my local Parish Council for 12 years, and act as a taxi service for my two children! In my spare time I enjoy riding, walking and cycling.
Mr J Hannon
I was appointed as a Parent Governor in February 2017. I was born and grew up in the Andover area and have recently moved back after living in London for almost 25 years. I currently have one son at Test Valley and was very keen to become involved with the school and local community and do what I can to help them prosper. I am a Chartered Surveyor and Senior Director at a global real estate company and believe I have a broad set of skills that are transferrable to add value to the school and its future plans. Away from work I like to ski, cycle and spend time outdoors with my family.
Mrs K Henry
I was appointed as a parent governor in June 2015. I have a daughter at Test Valley and boy and girl twins attending a local primary school. My working life has been spent in IT, which has involved overseeing the delivery of system developments, managing teams and analysing and solving business issues. In the voluntary sphere, my experience has been in running a twins club and as a Brownie Guider. In my spare time I enjoy gardening and country walks.
Ms H Lankester
I have spent my working life in education and, although my main experience has been in Further Education, I have taught at all levels. Latterly my experience in FE was in a management role. I have also worked part-time for a national exam board as a moderator and monitor of quality. Before moving back to Hampshire nearly four years ago I was a governor at a Primary School in Kent for nineteen years, seven of which were as Chair of Governors. I am actively interested in the conservation of a local nature reserve, local history and genealogy.
Mrs D Martin
I was appointed as a Local Authority Governor March 2013 and in the new constitution became a Co-Opted Governor serving on the Financial and Staff and Students Committee. In February 2016 I was re-appointed as a Local Authority Governor. I worked overseas for approximately 20 years and was involved in Duty Free Shops in Dubai and Asia on the the management, finance and planning. My four children were all born in Hong Kong and I have an interest in Education and the continual challenging changes.
Mrs N Osborne
As a teacher at Test Valley School I have a vested interest in its running and security. Staff governors offer a unique insight as their position allows them to see the link between practice and theory. I believe that good communication between the school, parents, staff, governors and pupils is essential and that governors play an important part in the school community. With my teaching experience and knowledge of the school I believe I can provide this link and also be the voice of the school staff on the governing body. I have both supported and challenged the school in the past in my role as a teacher but also when I previously served as a governor. I have experience of a classroom role but also within the wider life of the school providing trips and extra-curricular activities. I also took the whole school lead on achieving the Rights Respecting Schools Award and in fronting Pupil Voice activities. Being a governor will give me a greater insight of the whole school and therefore improve my role as a middle leader and my teaching practice.
Mrs A Snook
I became a co-opted Governor in May 2016. I have a daughter currently at the school and an older daughter who left in 2014. I had a 25 year career in public service, spending a few years in finance and then around 13 years in HR becoming a member of the CIPD. I am currently Clerk to Governing Body at two Andover primary schools. I know Test Valley to be a very good school with great students and hope to do a little to help it stay that way.
