Learning Support Assistant

Salary: £18,426 - £19,407 pro rata, HCC grade C
Start Date 1st January 2020

Minimum 15 hours/Maximum 25 hours per week; open to negotiation, 39 weeks per year, term time only, permanent.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support some of our pupils with educational needs. This may be one-to-one, small group work or whole class support. This is a busy role requiring a patient but assertive manner and the ability to deal with a range of situations. Good organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and in a team. Candidates will be committed to the learning and development of pupils.
Candidates need to be educated to GCSE level C or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) and need to have a flexible approach to working. Experience of working with children will also be an advantage but not essential. Additional training and support will be available.

This role provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience of working in schools by supervising classes during the short-term absence of teachers. This will include some examination invigilation and support to administration. This is a busy role requiring a patient but assertive manner and the ability to deal with a range of situations. Good organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and in a team.
Candidates will be committed to the learning and development of pupils. Training opportunities are available. Candidates must possess good GCSE qualifications (or equivalent) and have a good command of the English language. In return we will offer you the opportunity to train and develop. This might be an excellent opportunity for someone considering a career in teaching.
