Test Valley School is a small 11-16 secondary school on the outskirts of Stockbridge (one of the “best places to live” in The Sunday Times in 2018).  Our rural location adds a unique dimension to school life and our links across the community. It is also an easy commute from Winchester, Salisbury, Andover, Romsey and Southampton.

Our motto is ‘in pursuit of personal excellence’ and we have very high expectations of our pupils and ourselves in all aspects of school life. We offer a friendly, caring and supportive working environment.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to support some of our pupils with educational needs.  This may be one-to-one, small group work or whole class support.   This is a busy role requiring a patient but assertive manner and the ability to deal with a range of situations.  Good organisational skills are essential, as is the ability to work both independently and in a team. Candidates will be committed to the learning and development of pupils. Candidates with experience in Numeracy or Literacy interventions are particularly encouraged to apply

Candidates need to be educated to GCSE level C / 5 or above in Maths and English (or equivalent) and need to have a flexible approach to working.  Experience of working with children will also be an advantage but not essential.  Additional training and support will be available.

Parent Governor

We have one vacancy for a parent governor which we would like to fill. Test Valley School has always aimed for a partnership with parents which undoubtedly brings great benefits to the children. One of the most significant ways you can help in promoting this aim is to volunteer to be a parent governor.

The governing body’s main tasks are:

·                     to ensure that the school has a clear vision, ethos and strategic direction;

·                     to hold the headteacher to account for the educational performance of the school and its pupils;

·                     to oversee the financial performance of the school and making sure its money is well spent.

Parent governors are welcomed as valued members of the team and play a vital role in ensuring the governing body is aware of the views of parents and the local community. We feel sure that there are parents prepared to take on this important role and give their time and commitment to helping us to continue to improve the school’s performance.

Training and support will be available to help you develop into the role. This will include in-house mentoring and support as well as access to external governor training with Hampshire Governor Services.

Test Valley Full Governing Board meets 6 times a year in the late afternoon / currently on a Wednesday at 4:30pm. These meetings are approximately 2 hours in length. You would be expected to read papers prior to these meetings. In addition, we have two committees which also meet 6 times a year and most governors sit on one of these committees. You would also be expected to carry out approximately one governing monitoring per term during day time

   Interview date to be confirmed.
