Governance

At Test Valley School the governing body provides support and challenge to the Head Teacher of the school. A key aim of the Governing Body at Test Valley is to create robust accountability, oversight and assurance for our pupil’s educational performance and financial performance of the school.  

The governing board at Test Valley School has three core strategic functions:

  1. Ensuring clarity of vision, ethos and strategic direction.
  2. Holding executive leaders to account for the educational performance of Test Valley School and its pupils, and the performance management of staff.
  3. Overseeing the financial performance of Test Valley School and making sure its money is well spent.

The governing board at Test Valley comprises of sixteen governors, of which eight are Co-opted governors who are appointed by the governing body, five Parent governors, one Local Authority governor who is appointed by the local authority, one Staff governor and the Headteacher. We also have Associate member positions who have specific expertise and experience to contribute to the governing body. The Governing body at Test Valley School has a breadth of experience and knowledge.

The whole governing body meets 6 times a year. In addition, there are further committees; Finance and General Purposes, Curriculum and Pupil Assessment who also meet 6 times a year, Pay Review committee and Headteacher Pay Review meet as required.
