Since returning to school in January our Year 11 pupils have been attending interviews for a place at Peter Symonds College once they have completed their journey here at Test Valley. Many of the staff from Peter Symonds complimented our pupils on their exceptional behaviour and for the way they conducted themselves throughout the interview process. Interviews for other sixth form providers, including Andover and Sparsholt College, will follow.
18th December – 22nd December
At the end of the Autumn Term we said a sad farewell to Mr Dyke after almost twenty years at Test Valley School. Mr Dyke taught English for many of these years and more recently as a Cover Supervisor. He has taught in ours and other local schools for fifty years. He was known to the pupils from not only teaching them in the classroom but also he was very much involved in school trips and visits. Our Table Tennis Club has gone from strength to strength under his leadership. He was passionate about the sport and dedicated much of his own time to the club and local tournaments. This dedication was evident with the success of the team and last year they won the Andover Advertiser Cup. Mr Dyke will be greatly missed at our school but we wish him a wonderful and relaxing retirement. Over the years he has touched the lives of many pupils, being admired and respected in equal measure.
Below is an example of the Years 10 and 11 activities with a trip to Winchester Christmas market to go ice-skating and enjoy the stalls:
‘After spending time browsing the market we headed for the ice rink. The ability level of the group ranged from total beginners to those who looked like they were born to ice skate and whizzed around others demonstrating their skills. By the end of the afternoon even our novice skaters had made it around the rink without holding on to the rail, often assisted by the more experienced. The day was rounded off with a final opportunity to grab a hot chocolate before we headed back to school’.
