Libraries Week 2018

Libraries Week 2018Libraries Week 2018This week was a busy week for the Library, with activities and promotions running throughout the week. On Wednesday Mrs Lowin ran some games in the library, which involved pupils looking for books with only their covers and initials for clues and answering some quiz questions. It was great to hear the pupils talking about the books and discussing the questions! Pupils could also earn achievement points by borrowing books during the week and loans were up 20% on the previous week. There are a number of new displays in the library, featuring new books, relaxing books and mood-boosting books.

Year 9 MP3 Speaker Challenge

This term some of Year 9 pupils are spending their D+T lessons designing and making MP3 speakers. They are using recycled amplifier circuit boards and following a basic, casing design that pupils have to develop to make a more marketable product. As inspiration for their design ideas they have been encouraged to give their design ‘personality’ and have looked at the work of the design company ‘Alessi’, famous for its quirky colourful products.

Primary School Cross Country

Primary School Cross Country The annual Primary School Cross Country event took place at our school on Wednesday 3rd October with a glorious summer day. The Year 8 and 10 Sports Leaders helped to organise and host the event taking group warm ups, giving out the results card and marshalling the course. Some Leaders were ahead of the runners helping them to see where they had to go and encouraging the pupils to do their best. Wallop Primary School were once again the Team winners. Well done to all competitors and helpers – an excellent event to start the year.
